The Storm Tossed refers to eight barrels that were split between two of the Discovery Channel series "Deadliest Catch" fishing trawlers and sent to sea for two seasons to age. Two rival captains used the opportunity to create friendly competition to raise money for the Seattle Fisherman’s Memorial and Sea Scouts. Captain Josh and Casey stowed their four barrels in the F/V Cornelia-Marie hold. Only three barrels made it home.
We tasted Fremont Mischief Storm Tossed - F/V Cornelia-Marie at Meeting No. 57 on April 27, 2017. We rated it very highly at 3.17 out of 5. Fremont Mischief Storm Tossed - F/V Cornelia-Marie is the top rated Rye that we've tried.
Sea air, shellfish, and wet grappa oil hay. A curiously spicy finish.
Solid, woody, meaty, baseline.
Approachable, but with enough complexity to keep it interesting. Feels like a great, safe everyday drink.
Sweet hay transported on a covered barge.
Youthful. Interesting and pleasant. Not bad for the category but needs some more time to bake.
Vanilla. Dates. Char.
Not as good as Sig's "bowbreaker", but decent choice, particularly for a long voyage across the Pacific.
