We tasted Springbank 25 at Meeting No. 50 on August 25, 2016. We rated it very highly at 3.98 out of 5. Springbank 25 ranks 3rd overall in Scotch. At a street price of $500, this spirit is expensive, but worth it.
Surprisingly light for 25 years in sherry cask with a port cask finish. Perfectly balanced with amazing finish! Would drink this anytime.
Shy on the nose. The body is light and malty, a spreading warmth, no discernible peat, which is odd based on my memory of Springbank 15, which is a favorite. Good, but elusive.
Not a Springbank fanboy. Good. Not stellar. Still, not complaining.
Smell of a fresh salty ocean. Brutally complex and interesting. Noticeable peat. A little too much for me but not off-putting at all.
Acidic, sweet and hints of sherry throughout.
