A proud product of Taiwan, King Car Kavalan is a nationally celebrated whisky after joining the WTO in 2002. Don't let the young age of this distillery fool you. The Kavalan Single Malt performed surprisingly well.
We tasted King Car Kavalan Single Malt at Meeting No. 20 on January 30, 2014. We rated it very highly at 3.36 out of 5. King Car Kavalan Single Malt ranks 21st overall in Other Whiskey. At a street price of $85, this spirit is on the pricier side given the our rating of it.
Leathery burnt sugar and swedish shay tobacco. Full bodied. No nonsense.
Light speyside-y, quaffable goodness, has a little cinnamon bite of youth, but in a good way. Yum.
Mellow and drinkable. Notes of sweet pipe tobacco with a strong finish when exhaled through the nose.
Very distinguished, bold, and smooth. Wow for the Taiwanese! Very surprising given the climate, but a testament to what can be accomplished with disciplined execution. P.S. Note to Woodinville — this is what can be accomplished when you commit to a higher standard.
