This single cask expression currently varies from 11 to 12 years in age and is a big, fat, chewy whisky full of rich toffee and molasses notes. You could almost be forgiven mistaking it for Demerara rum at first impression!
Sullivans Cove French Oak Port Cask Single Malt Whisky was tasted at Meeting No. 15 on August 29, 2013. Out of 5, we rated it exceptionally at 4.00. Sullivans Cove French Oak Port Cask Single Malt Whisky is the top rated Other Whiskey that we've tried. Costing $139, this spirit is on the pricier side, but well worth the money.
Subtle, shy even nose of a little floral sugar. The body is delicate but full and refined. This is really excellent stuff and reminds me of the Rosebank 21 we tried a few months ago. Bull in a china shop without a saucer broken. Shortbread cookies.
Goddamn delicious. Definitely Big, fat and cherry like a meaty Silverado Valley cab. Nice peppery spiciness on the top of the palette. Flavorful buttery after taste.
I would like to fill my tasting glass to the brim with this stuff.
Smell of sweet apples. Molasses. Deliciously smooth, yet complex with a calming finish.
Varnish on the nose with a beautiful vanilla and toffee butter waterfall down the back of my throat.
