Twelve year old Speyside single malt from Diageo's Glenlossie aged in Ex-Sherry Butts.
We tasted SMWS 46.27: Italian Chestnut Cake at Meeting No. 41 on October 29, 2015. We rated it very highly at 3.63 out of 5. SMWS 46.27: Italian Chestnut Cake ranks 15th overall in Scotch. At a street price of $120, this spirit is on the pricier side, but well worth the money.
Floral and light custard nose in a sherry wrapper. Powerhouse on the palate. Bold and fiery but so maintainable. Add a drop of water and it melts and becomes beautiful.
My palate articulator is asleep! A few drops of water tames it to a pleasant and slightly fiery but balanced spirit..
Scents of almond, nutmeg. I like it best with a drop of water.
Airplane glue (you know you like it) nose. Big first impression lingering into nuttiness.
