We tasted Convalmore 1977 at Meeting No. 50 on August 25, 2016. We rated it exceptionally at 4.24 out of 5. Convalmore 1977 ranks 3rd overall in Scotch. At a street price of $700, this spirit is expensive, but worth it.
Tropical fire. Distilled honeycomb. Skydiving into an archipelago. This checks all the boxes as a stunner malt. Truly special.
Juicy, rich, enough peat to be interesting. Really nice layers of flavor, musty notes and various flavors of cooked dark stone fruits
So potent on first taste, grips the mouth like a clenched fist. A couple drops of water reveals a depth of character, like a box with more hidden compartments than you have fingers.
This is why I like whisky.
Not a beginner's drink. No training wheels available. This is probably the only scotch I'll have on the rocks. Not usually a fan of water.
Character in abundance with honey filled oaky finish. Well done!
Smells like cask strength. Benefits from a few drops of water to open it up. Assertive. Rich. Fantastic.
Coming in hot like a big plane on a short runway; but the landing is smooth with some surprising vanilla.
