We tasted Bruichladdich The Laddie 16 Year Old at Meeting No. 48 on June 29, 2016. We rated it very highly at 3.71 out of 5. Bruichladdich The Laddie 16 Year Old ranks 17th overall in Scotch. At a street price of $132, this spirit is on the pricier side, but well worth the money.
Pleasent soft whiskey nose, floral carmel sweet mouth, balanced and smooth. Excellent finish with light vanilla fruit.
The character and warming strength of the spirit is impressive. Sweet vanilla of The oak is right up front with toffee. There is a fruit flavor in the middle.
Soft and slightly sweet malty nose with orange and chocolate. Imminently drinkable. There's never a bad time to drink something like this. Unpeated Islay is gem.
Moist, tropical fruit and apricots. There's a light citrus, earthiness, and sheet cake.
Carmel sweetness. Similarities to Ardbeg iterations. Can drink a lot of this. Flask open, by fireside, fish in my belly! Vanilla, but citrest lurks on nose.
A light caramel beach smell with wood up front and a viscous feel on the tongue. Cherry/vanilla end.
Light nose. Taste still has some spice, despite no peat. Chocolate, a bit of salt. Nice body, well balanced. Bears repeat sampling!
Fresh sawdust nose, Creamy vanilla, oak and caramel on the tongue. Goes down the hatch like a dream!
Honeysuckle and berry that lead into a well rounded and oaky dram.
Worked leather, old books
Sweet oaky scent with a bit of must. Delicious but not outstanding.
