We tasted The Arran Malt 17 Year at Meeting No. 30 on November 20, 2014. We rated it very highly at 3.38 out of 5. The Arran Malt 17 Year ranks 14th overall in Scotch. At a street price of $95, this spirit is on the pricier side given the our rating of it.
Harmonious.
Excitement before - stability during - controlled after taste. Noteworthy for its durability, not explosive, but that's ok. Solid selection for my favorite armchair and a movie.
Light vanilla on nose. Sweet grassy start. Totally blank for 2-3 seconds then opens up in the mouth on exhale - soft sugary taste with very light peat essence. I did taste the sherry.
Cinnamon, spicy. Almost astringent. A little brown sugar. Strong nose.
Nose: ethanol. Palate: white lightning, sharp... stabs you in the throat. Finish: meh.
