This offering from Arcane Distilling in Brooklyn is distilled from a India Pale Ales from local brewery Brooklyn Brewing. Instead of traditional heat driven pot or column still, Arcane uses a vacuum-based still in an effort to preserve as much of the original beer flavors as possible.
The Arcane was tasted at Meeting No. 85 on October 24, 2019. Out of 5, we rated it 2.88. The Arcane ranks 39th overall in American Whiskey. Costing $86, this spirit is on the pricier side given the our rating of it.
Minty tea tree oil zest bomb nose, licorice. All over the place and making my mouth slightly numb. Hot, definitely young. U-neeek.
Like a piece of art that doesn't speak to me at all but that earns my respect for the artist because of the uniqueness of the expression. Powerful smell of sour washrag smothered in perfume from a bygone generation.
On the nose: perfume, wet dank hops. Sweet without being sweet. Tea tree. Soap. So much soap.
