Barrel strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon hand selected by Master Distiller, Jim Rutledge. Recipe OBSK: 60% corn, 35% rye, 5% malted barely mashbill. Aromas of nutmeg, maraschino cherries, dates and vanilla complemented by cherry pie and light oak on the palate. Rich, mellow finish with hints of allspice and caramel.
We tasted Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel (OBSK) at Meeting No. 27 on August 28, 2014. We rated it very highly at 3.59 out of 5. Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel (OBSK) ranks 30th overall in Bourbon. At a street price of $75, this spirit is on the pricier side, but well worth the money.
Really smooth up front for a barrel strength; cinnamon right afterward; definitely some cherry notes; This is so easy to drink it's dangerous; sleek, like a beautiful, evil bourbon ninja. 5 drops of water tames her, but there are still throwing stars.
Hard for me to avoid reflecting on my last night in the Canadian wilderness: a sparking fire, soft waves crashing on the river shore, and a bottle of Four Roses destroyed by best friends, scheming on how to get back. Sweeter than the 10 year and without the after taste, but a flamethrower on the tongue.
Nose strong of cherries, spicy and sweet on the tongue. A touch of water brings out the vanilla.
