Fifty Pounds Gin "Cask At the Back"

Gin
7 Years Old
2011 Vintage
43.5% ABV
$450

Small batch, London dry gin. Aged for 7 years in very old Pedro Ximénez sherry barrels. Takes us back to the 19th century when gin was transported in oak barrels. The barrels stored at the back of the warehouse would be there the longest and therefore develop the darkest color and impart more of the characteristics of the sherry barrels.

We tasted Fifty Pounds Gin "Cask At the Back" at Meeting No. 67 on March 29, 2018. We rated it very highly at 3.79 out of 5. Fifty Pounds Gin "Cask At the Back" ranks 3rd overall in Gin. At a street price of $450, this spirit is expensive, but worth it.

So sassy. I don’t know what’s going on, but I like it! It’s the creek brûlée of gin.

Super wet. Not dry at all. I need to towel off. Put your bathing suit. Splash splash. Not in that order. Also tons of yellow curry.

Smells like turpentine. Tastes like honey. Really like this one. Just a hint of juniper.
