Tasting Notes

First Tasted at Meeting No. 33 in February 2015
 •  4.0

Golden color. Caramel and brown sugar on the nose, Dr. Pepper, after some time I get Werthers caramel candy, some tropic fruits like toasted coconut or grilled pineapple, maybe Cherry Coke.

 •  4.0

The sustained heat on this because of the proof is almost more like a spice--it's not unpleasant at all, but warming. The flavors themselves are nicely balanced against the heat--toasty oak, maple syrup, mint. A great way to keep warm if you were in Kentucky during a polar vortex. A nice bizarro Weller.

 •  3.5

Less than strong scent. Cherry bomb: a Manhattan without mixers. If it wasn't so hard to find, I would by a case for the trail. Good for drinking while standing in three feet of river water at the end of a portage. Deep mahogany coating my belly.

 •  2.5

Dark fruit, heavy cherry flambé and red pepper flakes. Thick and heavy, not for easy sipping.
