Gilde Non Plus Ultra, at twelve years, is the longest aged aquavit in all of Norway and has a unique sherry and oak influence as a result.
We tasted Gilde Non Plus Ultra at Meeting No. 55 on February 23, 2017. We rated it very highly at 3.54 out of 5. Gilde Non Plus Ultra ranks 2nd overall in Other. At a street price of $72, this spirit is on the pricier side, but well worth the money.
The age has done this one well. Weirdly minty still, and like insulative ultrasound conductive fluid, but in the very best possible way. Would go well with Indian food.
Fruity nose. Smells like overripe cantaloupe. Heavy anise flavor, light syrupy mouthfeel. Would pair nicely with a heavy meal.
Nose: vanilla. Taste: Caraway bagels!
Fill the flask and head for the slopes
