A recreation of the famous C.F. Berger Absinthe from Couvet, Switzerland. Unavailable to the world after the Swiss ban of absinthe in 1910, until a well preserved case of this spirit was discovered and used by Jade Liqueurs to resurrect it.
We tasted C.F. Berger® (Verte Suisse 1898) Absinthe Supérieure at Meeting No. 38 on July 29, 2015. We rated it very highly at 3.31 out of 5. C.F. Berger® (Verte Suisse 1898) Absinthe Supérieure ranks 10th overall in Other. At a street price of $110, this spirit is on the pricier side given the our rating of it.
Aggressively bitter, bordering on unpleasant. Once it's diluted the spirit opens up and transforms. More sweetness comes out and the herbs take over.
Having my sound of music moment climbing the Swiss alps
A complex nose, medicinal and herbal. Slight combination of bitterness and sweetness. Water turns this into a everyday drinker.
A bit sour and medicinal.
Dill, green spice, brine, like anise pickle juice; after adding water gets a creamy character to the nose; creamy pleasant taste, bitterness at the back of the tongue on both sides
