Johnnie Walker Explorers' Club Collection Gold Route was tasted at Meeting No. 20 on January 30, 2014. Out of 5, we rated it very highly at 3.56, though we had some disagreement among member ratings. Johnnie Walker Explorers' Club Collection Gold Route ranks 42nd overall in Scotch. Costing $100, this spirit is on the pricier side, but well worth the money.

Fragrant, stinky in a good way. Sherried and peaty. Strong on the palate, mature and delicious. Classic port charlotte / Bruichladdich notes, excellent! If you want to wander into some serious peat, this is your spirit.

Peat peat here and a peat peat there. Smooth blended goodness.

Smooth, very smooth — but a little boring. When sipping I feel like an international man of mystery with very little imagination.

Grappa-like, earthy milkiness; nice peaty ribbons running through the background. Cool and sweet. Haunting echoes of peat loiter for a long time.
