SMWS Seattle Extravaganza 2015

On Friday the 13th 2015, I went with a handful of Seattle Spirits Society members to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society's aptly named Seattle Extravaganza. If there was ever a celebration of Scotch, this was it. Representatives from all the main names in the business were there, as well as a crowd of 300-400 whisk(e)y drinkers. Imagine an event where people are not even giving the Highland Park 18 or Macallan 18 a second look, as they look for pours of more exclusive spirits. Time was certainly a limiting factor, and the best strategy for working the tables was to only have the top one or two expressions for the reason that you were probably least likely to have those again.

At the society, I would have taken notes, but given the time constraint, a checkmark in my tasting book was all I could muster. Here's a list of what I tried:

  • Aberfeldy 21 Year Old (!)
  • Ardmore Legacy
  • BenRiach Septendicium 17 Year Old
  • The Classic Cask Bunnahabhain 1991 (!)
