Tasting Notes

First Tasted at Meeting No. 29 in October 2014
 •  4.0

Hickory smoke is prominent on the nose. Smoke & sweetness are well balanced; the whole whiskey is nicely restrained; an extremely likable whisky.

 •  4.0

Nose: Bacon and distant smoke over the hills. Taste: sweet, gentle, growing warmth; delicate bacon overtones. I could drink this forever.

 •  4.0

Nose smoky and peaty. First sip tastes like menthol cigarettes. Second sip is much better, like smoked meat. Lingers on the tongue.

 •  3.5

Sweet but ultimately disappointing. Talisker 10 is my favorite scotch, but this just doesn't do it for me Think it's the extra sweetness from the sherry cask.

 •  3.0

Definite cigar scents, bright aftertaste with a sweet finish. Peat, but not overpowering. That said, not my favorite Talisker.

 •  2.5

Lot of smoke, small campfire on the nose with honey and caramel. Tobacco.

 •  2.0

Strong tobacco on finish when exhaling. Lightly sweet. Enjoyable. A bit hot on the back of the nose.
