Tasting Notes

First Tasted at Meeting No. 10 in March 2013
 •  3.5

Some peat; very smooth with a sweetness. a beautiful spring scotch with notes of a premature barbecue.

 •  3.0

Incredibly drinkable for a 5 yr. Delicious. Peaty. Smokey. Add water: Slightly smoother profile with increasing sweetness.

 •  2.5

Smokey, peaty, definite hint of creosote followed by lightly sweetened flavors. A drop of water balances the peat and sweetness and makes it much more pleasant.

 •  2.0

Shallow body peat. A little sharp. Take some deep breaths before it leaves your mouth and get a puff of resin on the exhale. Drop of water takes it up on the nose. Dayquil numbness.

 •  2.0

Light and sweet with some charcoal finish. A drop of water both opens and mellows this spirit. Smells like honeysuckle or maybe a buttercup flower. Tastes more like butterscotch. Someone said antiseptic and I totally agree - the roof of my mouth is numb. On retaste, I've come to appreciate the charcoal being unlike anything I've very had. I'd up the rating to 3/3.5 for uniqueness, but don't expect everyone to like this. I may make a spot for this oddity in my cabinet.
