This armagnac is made from more than 40 different grape eaux-de-vie, exclusively grown on their 260 acre vineyard. Chateau de Laubade is also the only Armagnac house coopering its own casks, from Gascony oak, to ensure the finest maturing process.
We tasted Chateau de Laubade X.O. Armagnac (2015 Tasting) at Meeting No. 32 on January 29, 2015. We rated it 2.98 out of 5, though we had some disagreement among member ratings. Chateau de Laubade X.O. Armagnac (2015 Tasting) ranks 3rd overall in Armagnac. At a street price of $66, this spirit is on the pricier side given the our rating of it.

The grape comes through nicely with a perfect amount of toasty oakiness.

This is a creamy but bold elixir that makes me crave a cigar. Sweetness from maple. If you spill this, honey bees will lick it up.

XO, cherry coca-cola, golden raisins, maraschino nose. Wood on the palate, tobacco, oak. Long finish / char comes through. Red, syrupy/viscous character.

Sweet tickle of the throat like spiked soda. A tart of vanilla rubbing alcohol lingering for several moments after... Lighter tones.

I get an initial "atomic" fireball, and then an "artificial" banana residue. Late finish that dissipates quickly. Also, sheep poop. Do sheep eat bananas?
