Tasting Notes

First Tasted at Meeting No. 63 in October 2017
 •  4.0

A little char, a little sweet. Aged right. Peat waft. I have a ~ 5 year old bottle of this and I like this 2017 bottle better. Campfire warmer, leather chair relaxer, winter betterer.

 •  4.0

Nail polish remover or new tennis shoes and licorice. When I smelled it, I thought "ugh" but when I tasted it, I was like "ok." I found this surprisingly drinkable as I went. Not as herby as I thought it would be after smelling it. I'd totally go for this regularly.

 •  3.5

Peatfest 2017 on the nose. Char comes through strong on the aftertaste. Very scotch

 •  3.5

The aftermath of an extinguished match. It drops into a sweet and dry body. Surprisingly tame.

 •  3.5

Big phenolic nose and taste. Yes you get that classic Islay complexity but it's much drier than I was expecting. As it warms up in your mouth the phenols fade and your left with loads more notes to think about. This is a fun one.

 •  2.5

When I cough all I get are pork sliders and barbecue sauce.

 •  2.0

High pitched until the finale, which plummets to a hum of muddled peat.
