Barrell Craft Spirits, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is an independent blender and bottler of unique aged, cask-strength sourced whiskey and rum spirits. We conceive of, design, launch, and talk about Spirits with a focus on what people want now and not what has been successful in the past. This affords us access to some of the most interesting and delicious spirits in the world. To celebrate the New Year, Barrell creates a limited edition bourbon. It's comprised of reserves from some of their batches and other choice barrels coming from 6 distilleries in 6 states. Throughout the year they set aside particularly inspiring barrels that they believe will make an interesting contribution to the New Year release. They do dozens of test blends to find the combination they believe to be the best and most interesting from their barrel inventory to make the New Year blend a truly unique expression.

Tasting Notes

First Tasted at Meeting No. 78 in March 2019
 •  4.0

Very hot- but doesn’t interrupt the flavor. Well rounded. Sweet finish. Fairly remarkable. Makes me think of Nashville.

 •  4.0

Tropical fruit salad on the nose; Creamy; savory dessert; buttered rum;

 •  3.5

Nose of bourbon pillow with carmel feathers. Cola gummy candies. Zing! Fizz fizz pop pop. My tongue curls to meet this. Slightly hot. Needs more time, but I’d love to revisit.
